“Teotitlán is a town which has been interesting for twenty-five centuries.”

“Bienvenidos a Las Granadas B&B”

Las Granadas, a bed and breakfast located outside Oaxaca City in Teotitlán del Valle, is only 2 blocks from Teotitlán del Valle’s daily market and its beautiful 16th century church.  This is a great place from which you can explore this fascinating traditional Zapotec pueblo and is a great alternative to hotels in Oaxaca.  Las Granadas is also is an excellent home base from which to explore neighboring towns and villages, such as Tlacolula, Mitla, Tlacochahuaya, and more.

Las Granadas bed and breakfast offers clean, pleasant and affordable rooms in a friendly, family setting.  Josefina, a wonderful health-conscious cook, uses ingredients purchased daily at the local market, including organic locally grown lettuce, corn, and a variety of other locally sourced ingredients.  Fresh salsas are prepared daily, chosen to compliment each dish. A hot breakfast is included free of charge, and lunch and dinner are available for guests for a modest charge upon request. If you want to experience an authentic Oaxacan pueblo, this weaving town is an excellent choice.

Activities close to Las Granadas include touring a home where silk worms are raised, where one can see the process of how silk thread is produced for weaving.  Visits can also be arranged to visit local artisan candle makers to see the traditional way of making candles adorned with flowers.  There are also workshops available in town for those interested in learning to dye with indigo and other natural dyes, as well as weaving classes.  There are cooking classes in town which teach how to prepare traditional dishes including moles and salsas, as well as how to prepare chocolate from cacao beans.  For nature lovers, there are an abundance of trails and scenic places to walk.  Birders come from all over the world to birdwatch because of the wide variety of bird species.

Teotitlán del Valle is only 30 minutes from Oaxaca City and offers easy access by car, bus or taxi to the city and to other sites in the Tlacolula valley. We look forward to your stay with us.
