Directions to Teotitlán del Valle and travel options from Oaxaca City:
From the airport:
Please let us know if you will be arriving directly from the airport. We may be able to send a taxi to pick you up or describe other options and the likely cost.
One option from the airport is to take a taxi (or collectivo) to the Baseball Stadium in Oaxaca (el estadio de besbal) on Chapultepec. (Note: Even this option might cost you 200 - 300 pesos). From there you can take a bus to Teotitlán del Valle (one each hour until about 7 p.m.) or a collectivo (a taxi with a "Teotitlán" sign in the windshield). The bus is 10 pesos; a collectivo is 10 to 15 pesos ($1 to $1.50 US).
If you are travelling light you have the option of taking a bus or collectivo from the Baseball Stadium going to Mitla or Tlacolula (more frequent than the one per hour to Teotitlán) and then get out at the Teotitlán crucero (crossroad). In the afternoon and early evening, cabs are usually there to take folks into Teotitlán for 5 pesos. But, bear in mind, it's a 3 km walk into the village
